Once a month there is an art activity for kids at a local museum. It is a really nice program and we've been going for about six months now. Some times the little guy is into it. Other times he would much prefer to peruse the refreshment table and wander about.
Yesterday we painted and he was feeling it. He hasn't really painted much. I've given him watercolors to paint with now and then but he has never had real cups of tempura paint and a big brush and a cup of water. The whole deal.
Now I am a smidge biased here but aren't they fantastic?
I have these two little frames that have some owl drawings that I did in them.
I was thinking I could cut out two of my favorite sections of his paintings and frame them for his big boy room. I'm hesitating a bit to cut them up though... what do you think?

quick letter art
When I switched out the frames in our dining room here I freed up some frames for use elsewhere. Our gallery wall above the sofa in the living room is constantly shifting and growing. I joke with my husband that one of these days I'm going to tap in a nail and the whole wall will crumble down because there are so many holes.
When we got back after the holidays I started fussing around the house. Does anyone else do this before they even unpack their suitcase? I am compelled to decorate after being away from the house for a week. I know, a little strange.
So we shifted the gallery wall once again and I had a gap to fill. So I took this fabric I have.
I used the burlap for the background. Burlap, what? More burlap! The love affair is in full swing! I drew a little lower case b on the chevron fabric and cut it out with scissors. It isn't perfect but that is part of the charm. I just put the b on top of the burlap and assembled the frame again. No glue or anything. Here it is
That makes three letter b's on the gallery wall. I'm not sure what my fascination with letters is but I can't get enough.

bulking up for winter
My Grandfather was a really talented artist. I'm lucky enough to have quite a few pieces of his artwork in our home. He did these lovely ballet prints for the Lord & Taylor Christmas card many years ago, isn't that neat? I have four of them in our dining room and I threw them in cheap black metal frames that I had spray painted white but they looked a little well, too little!
Today at Michaels I found some slightly more substantial frames for buy one get one free and they were $7.99! So I popped them in the new frames.
Isn't that better? I was originally thinking silver frames would be nice but these white ones couldn't be passed up. Check back for more House Tour. The dining room where these ballet prints live is next!
